Reaction of the International Community
Following Morocco’s presentation of it’s initiative, the UN Security Council While “Welcoming the serious and credible Moroccan efforts to move the process forward towards resolution” Calls upon the parties to enter into negotiations without preconditions in good faith, taking into account the last developments of the last months, with a view to achieving a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution”. (S/RES/1754 (2007)).



Reaction of The Moroccan Minister Delegate of Foreign affairs and Cooperation about the resolution
Today's resolution "marks above all a clear-cut rupture with the approaches recommended so far and with the different proposals tested or expressed since 1990 in particular", said Moroccan Minister delegate of Foreign affairs and Cooperation Mr Taieb Fassi Fihri, in a reaction to the resolution 1495 passed by the Security Council.

Mr. Fassi-Fihri noted that this is the first time, since July 2003, that the Security Council no longer mentions the Baker II Plan, in an allusion to the peace plan mooted by the then UN Secretary General's Personal Envoy to the Sahara and former American Secretary of State James Baker.

"It is also a resolution of substance that constitutes a crucial turning point in the search for a realistic and workable solution of the issue", Mr. Fassi Fihri said.
